Serving those too often overlooked.

Our Bronx location gives us a unique opportunity to serve BIPOC communities that are far too often underserved. We engage the needs of those affected by historic injustice, oppression, and inequality through education and the Gospel — in ways other schools are not positioned to.

Many of our student-athletes are first-generation college students. Without OSL, many could not afford a college education. Our students leave as resourceful young adults, ready for college and the workforce. That isn’t possible without our partners and donors.

Jaylynn Santos

Jaylynn came to OSL in middle school needing a safe environment in which to grow. After the death of the grandmother who raised her, she trusted our faculty and staff to walk with her, and many became her mentors.

Bold with her ideas and entrepreneurial by nature, Jaylynn used her internship to spark her esthetician work. She served many community service hours, played for our Lady Falcons volleyball team, and graduated to begin her career as an esthetician and beautician. We love you, Jaylynn, and we are very proud of you!

Seth Ernest

Born and raised in the Bronx by his mother, Seth showed incredible gifts of intelligence and a growing faith he wanted to share through words and actions. At OSL his faith was shaped and challenged, and he became a leader among his classmates.

The summer before his senior year, Seth interned at our partner congregation, Cornerstone Lutheran Church in Carmel, Indiana, serving alongside Pastor Jason Taber. Donor support gave him the chance to grow and care for those he loves here in the Bronx. We love you, Seth!
